Candace Savonen

I am passionate teaching data science and making it fun! I believe that as a part of the data science community, we need to work to become a more inclusive work environment. This would not only create better science, but would widen the circle for individuals who are currently underrepresented in data science.

I’m a part of three main teams:

  • ITCR Training Network - aims to equip cancer researchers better utilize data to fuel their cancer research.
  • DataTrail - aims to decrease the racial disparities in data science by providing educational opportunities for underrepresented communities and data science employers.
  • Fred Hutch Data Science Lab - aims to help coordinate data science and build a supportive community amongst the Fred Hutch Cancer scientists.
